To be clear, there is no rhyme or reason to what I review. I will review everything! They will be JUDGED! For! My! Pleasure!
01/27/2026: Don Gonzalo TurrĂ³n Blando Almendra Extra - My classmate gave me this. I really enjoyed it. It tastes like a solid bar of almond butter and I love almond butter. It had a nice robust flavour and was sweet. I would like to try more Spanish candies in the future.
02/06/2026: I've never been good at analysing text and articulating how I feel about it. But here we go. Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them - I was reading this while looking for scenes for my senior showcase (annoying to explain). Essentially it's about 3 kids in rural America and the life they navigate dealing with parents, sexuality, and poverty. Immediately you can see Kenny and Edie's relationship to their parents, and their responses to how they were failed by them. Kenny tries to repair, to avoid problems, and Ed tries to become independent, to fight for the others who won't fight. When the two of them reconcile while Edie's on the rooftop I was touched. Kenny realises he has to step up for what matters to him. Edie lets herself be a little kid. I liked Benji and Kenny's relationship too, I thought it was realistic. At the end Kenny has a monologue where he talks about seeing his dad defeated. He remarks on how his dad made many little mistakes and let them get big and now the dad realises how big they've become. I think the play did a good job in allowing the children, at least the older ones, the maturity to examine the adults in their lives with empathy and sensitivity.
